Revolutionary London Town!
Enlist in the Continental Army. Hear the roar of cannon fire. Learn about the impact of the American Revolution on daily life in the historic seaport of London. On Sunday, July 11, 2010 from noon to 4 p.m., visitors to Historic London Town and Gardens in Edgewater can experience a living history event with re-enactors from Ship’s Company and London Town’s own “interpreters of the past.”
Go inside our National Historic Landmark, the William Brown House, to join the debate over whether or not the 13 colonies should rebel against Great Britain. Then wander throughout 18th-century tavern while listening to appropriate colonial music.
Visitors can help with housekeeping at the Lord Mayor’s Tenement, participate in preparing a colonial meal and learn to play colonial games, including quoits, nine pins, cards, and dice. All activities are child-friendly, so make this a family day. Children’s colonial costumes will be available. All visitors can stay refreshed with scoops of ice cream provided by Annapolis Ice Cream Company.
Admission for the day is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for youth aged 7-18, and free for children 6 and younger. This event is supported by funding from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. For more information, call (410) 222-1919.
