London Town Benefit

"London Town in Bloom" Join us as we come together for an evening of fabulous food from our Top Caterers in our Best of the Best list, music from the Freddie Stevens Trio and great silent auction items. This annual benefit is one of London Town’s major fundraisers and will be held Friday, April 8th from 6-9pm in waterfront tents in our gardens.

Spring Plant Sale

April 30th this year, from 8am to noon. The flowers are blooming and our increasingly popular plant sale draws gardening enthusiasts and novices from all over. We offer a range of great plants, from perennials and shade plants to heirloom vegetables. Anne Arundel County Master Gardeners, who help to propagate many of the varieties offered, are usually on hand to answer questions and assist with plant selection.

Family Hearth Cooking Day

In April and November our hearth cooking days are offered to families interested in learning more about the types of food available to colonists living in London Town during the 18th century.  These hands-on activities allow you to help prepare a hearth-cooked meal and then enjoy the results of your labor.

Public Archaeology Dig Days

Just announced dates!  On two Saturdays - June 4, and September 10, come to Historic London Town and Gardens to help us discover the ‘lost town’ of London. Archaeology and archaeological tours are offered by the Anne Arundel County Lost Towns Project. This is a free activity.

Revolutionary London Town

On July 10th, come to Historic London Town and Gardens for a living history day with our own “interpreters of the past” to experience life in the port town during the American Revolution. Cannon fire, militia drilling, guided tours, hearth cooking, and other hands-on activities are part of this exciting event.

Fall Plant Sale

Fall is for planting – especially trees and shrubs – so join us for our popular fall plant sale and take home an unusual camellia or magnolia, a bareroot peony, a London Town-grown perennial, or a seasonal plant from the Melwood Horticultural program. Anne Arundel County Master Gardeners, who help propagate many of the varieties offered, will be on hand to answer questions and assist with plant selection.

Market and Trades Weekend

In early November, colonial craftspeople converge on London Town to practice their respective crafts and teach visitors how well-done hand-made items can be. Additionally, visitors may help with hearth cooking, try on colonial costumes, play games, and take tours of the site.

Native American Cooking

On the Friday after Thanksgiving come to London Town to learn about the foodways of the Chesapeake-area Native Americans. Help participate in a hearth-cooking demonstration.

Wreath & Creative Holiday Workshop and Greens Sale

Take a wreath and/or creative holiday workshop to make decorations for the holiday season. Additional greenery and creative ornaments, made and arranged by London Town’s garden volunteers, is also available for sale.
