Summer Family Days

School’s out so bring the kids for our new Family Days! Each day offers fun workshops for kids ages 6 – 14. There are a lot of great programs to select from!

Art in the Garden

Saturday, July 13

10am – 12pm

 

Explore our gardens for artistic inspiration during a garden tour.  Along the way you will gather natural objects, such as fallen twigs, leaves, or flowers and use them to create your own amazing work of art.

$12 for members, $15 for non-members. $5 discount for every four sessions registered.

Soldiers & Subjects

Saturday, July 13

1pm - 3pm

 

Join in a watergun reenactment of eighteenth-century militia battles! Kids will learn how to march, how muskets worked, and have a big watergun fight as though they were militia recruits in the colonial days.

$12 for members, $15 for non-members. $5 discount for every four sessions registered.

Hearth Cooking

Because of the heat, we are cancelling Hearth Cooking on 7/20. If you are already registered, we will be in touch to discuss options. The afternoon's basket weaving will continue but will be inside. The hearth cooking on August 3rd is still scheduled to happen. Thank you! ​

Get cooking over a hearth fire in our reconstructed Lord Mayor’s Tenement.  Clean, chop, and cook using period techniques and utensils – Maximum 20 people.

Basket Weaving

Learn how to weave with our staff, and take home a small basket of your own. (Update: due to the heat, this workshop will now take place inside a modern, air-conditioned building)

London Town & the Sea

Sign up to join the crew of a London Town ship for the afternoon!  You will follow your captain, learn about life as a sailor, and how to defend against a pirate attack in our historic area.

Family Fashions & Fabrics

Learn about colonial family fashions while creating and dyeing your own neckerchief to take home! – Maximum 20 people.

Game On

Saturday, August 17

1pm – 3pm

 

Get your hands on some reproduction toys and games of the eighteenth century. Your kids will spend the morning outside learning how to play the sports and games of our colonial ancestors. Games include graces, trap-ball, quoits, nine-pins, playing cards, and colonial era board games.
